The two sexes of the adult butterflies of this species on top are different, but both are black with a large metallic blue patch in the centre of each wing. The patches for the males are a deep blue, and the females pale blue. Underneath, they are both grey or brown, with orange markings outlined in metallic pale green. Both sexes have a wingspan of about 2.5 cms.

This species is found in New Guinea, and in the Iron Range on Cape York in Queensland.
