This moth has dark grey fore wings with the outer edge marked by a succession of coloured bands: grey, then white, brown, and black. There is a small but bright blue eyespot near the centre of each fore wing, and a row of five smaller eyespots in each brown band. The hind wings are yellow with a black border. The moth has a wingspan of about 2 cms.


The species is found in the northern two-thirds of Australia, including :

  • New South Wales,
  • Queensland, and
  • the north of Western Australia.
