The caterpillar of this species is dark brown with pale markings, and tubercles on the first two abdominal segments. It has been reported to feed on:

  • Chinese Privet ( Ligustrum sinense, OLEACEAE ),
  • Camphor Laurel ( Cinnamomum camphora, LAURACEAE ),
  • Schima ( THEACEAE ),
  • Mango ( Mangifera indica, ANACARDIACEAE ),
  • Longan ( Dimocarpus longan, SAPINDACEAE ), and
  • Lychee ( Litchi chinensis. SAPINDACEAE ).

    The adult moth has brown forewings, each with a clearly delineated pale patchy outer half. The hindwings are white with a dark brown margin. The moths attack fruit, piercing the skin to suck the juice.

    The species has been found in:

  • Hong Kong,
  • India,
  • Japan,
  • Korea,
  • Taiwan,
  • Thailand, and
  • Queensland.
